HAZOP Leader & Methods Masterclass

Akhtar Quddus

Complex processing with inherent hazards requires systematic methods for hazard identification and assessment. Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) is a rigorous, structured and systematic examination of a planned or existing process or operation in order to identify and evaluate problems that may represent risks to personnel or equipment, or prevent efficient operation. It can be adapted to a variety of processes and technologies.

The effectiveness and efficiency of a HAZOP depends on the competence of the leader as well as experienced & committed team members. This course will help leaders develop the skills necessary to make HAZOP a cost- effective aspect of their process development, design and management in their organization.

HAZOP study minimizes the potential of catastrophic process incidents, increases the understanding of processes thereby improving operations and helps comply with the regulatory requirements.

The course is aimed at providing a fundamental understanding of HAZOP and other PHA techniques and provide the participants with in-depth practice through case studies, industry examples and class-room activities to enable and empower them to conduct HAZOP studies at their workplaces.

Training Methodology :

  • The workshop is designed as highly interactive session with practical examples, video clips & quiz interludes, where appropriate. The training content will particularly focus on practical issues arising while working on an operational plant.
  • Highly engaging format with a qualified & experienced facilitator to enrich the delegates’ experience via real life examples & interactive discussions.
  • Case studies, group discussions & syndicate sessions to ensure that the course content is both engaging & interesting and team leaders and team members practical experience in their respective roles.
  • Supporting materials include a comprehensive manual & handouts, practical and useful checklists, forms and formats. Video material will be used extensively to support the presented material.
